Letter from the Board of Directors

12/14/2024

Dearest Members of Dias con Cristo,

The Board of Directors of DcC met to discuss the future of our ministry.  We recognize the DcC community has a great deal of love for each other and for this ministry.  Over the past several years the actual work people have been able to provide has decreased as our members have become older and busier.  Of course, with the reduced participation comes reduced income. Even though DcC redesigned the weekend, the energy, income and availability of our community simply does not support continuing the ministry at this time.  After a great deal of prayer, thought and discussion the Board has concluded that DcC needs to formally dissolve, although we as members are welcome to continue meeting and offering service.

Other opportunities, however, have been presenting themselves. Kairos continues to need support for DcC weekends to train volunteers.  This could be done much less formally, allowing a semblance of the weekends to continue as a ministry of support to Kairos.

An Apoyo group has been meeting once a month at Connie Patterson’s home. They meet the second Sunday of every month, at 2:30 PM. This is an open group, and all are welcome! You are also most welcome to start your own Apoyo group.  If you are interested, please reach out to us.  We can get you information and ideas to help you get started.

This Northern Nevada Secretariat was formed in 1974. Thousands of lives have been impacted over the course of 103 Cursillo, Tres Dias, and Dias con Cristo weekends, in addition to many renewals, and other special events throughout the decades. Both Search and Kairos were an outgrowth of our very own Cursillo community.  Countless youth were impacted through Search weekends, and the impact of Kairos weekends continues to this day. We each carry own very special memories of the spiritual journey we have taken, both individually and collectively. The blessings will continue. We can only begin to imagine what those might be.

With Blessings and Much Love,

DeColores!  DcC Board of Directors, 2024
